I Found a Place of Rest | Nume Studio Reflections

In the months leading up to my fiftieth birthday, life slowed me down in ways I didn’t expect. I broke a toe in March, which forced me to pause, and then in July, I injured my back, resulting in a bulging disc. I caught myself getting impatient, feeling like I wasn’t moving fast enough or doing enough. But somewhere in that enforced stillness, I discovered something unexpected: a place of rest, a new rhythm.

For the past 29 years, my life has been centred on raising my children—meeting their needs, holding space for their growth, and putting their well-being before my own. If I’m honest, I think that pattern started even earlier. But as I found myself slowing down, I began to ask deeper questions: What do I want my life to look like now? How do I want to live, not just for others, but for myself?

What I discovered is that I long for simplicity and presence. I want to soak in the sound of birdsong at sunrise when I walk. I want to nourish my family with food that feels like love. I want to truly hear people when they share their hearts with me. I want to feel connected to those in my world. I want to be authentically me.

I’ve come to believe there is no final destination we’re meant to race toward. Instead, life is an unfolding—an exploration. It’s about noticing what makes your heart light up, what motivates you, and how beauty touches your senses each day. It’s about savouring what you taste, what you see, what you hear, and what you feel. It’s about breathing deeply and recognising that this moment is the life you are creating.

I’m still figuring it out as I go, but I feel the call to share this journey here. Nume Studio isn’t just about products—it’s about creating rituals of presence, spaces of connection, and a life that feels intentional. My hope is that by sharing what I’m learning, you’ll find inspiration for your own path of slowing down, exploring, and simply being.
